Not being too experienced at baking, I found this surprisingly easy to make. Can't imagine why anyone would settle on canned pumpkin when using fresh is so easy. I probably should have used a different variety of pumpkin though, as the pumpkin I used was a Jack O' Lantern variety. And the crust was also easy to make. There's definitely a world of difference between this and using canned pumpkin and premade crust.
I use butter instead of margarine. And I add an extra 1/4 cup. Makes them richer IMO. Made these for my company Christmas party. Everybody devoured them in record time. Incredible chocolate flavor, and like the description says, taste just like brownies. Awesome recipe. Whenever I want a real chocolate treat, this is my go-to recipe.
