I rate this a 5 star recipe for flavor, ease and most important in my house "kid friendly." Anything that the adults and kids love this much is a keeper. Like the others I added the cheese the last 15 minutes and used real bacon bits.
This recipe was really easy and really, really tasty. The only things I did different was using ginger paste as my store did not have fresh ginger(paste available in the produce section and has s decent shelf life.) I also added some diced white onions. This was better than any shrimp dish I have had in a restaurant! Will make again and again.
With all of the rave reviews I was really dissappointed. The refried black beans although sounded like a good idea, just left "chunks" and a "gritty" texture, the more I stirred the more the other beans broke down. I would like to try it again but I would definitly use a food processor for the refried beans and broth and maybe add a little more fat somehow for the gritty factor. Other than that sounded like a great recipe, can't figure out where it went wrong.
This was delicious! I am not sure what the other reviewer was talking about the smell? The aroma was mouthwatering! My husband who is very picky rated it a "keeper" and my kids loved it. I used a dry steak seasoning, added olive oil and minced garlic when I browned the chops. I also used a Heineken beer. One more thing...had some apple and sliced that up and added when I added the onion. Thanks for sharing this great dish!
Very good...I used brown rice and added some garlic powder, fresh ground pepper and Tony's seasoning. Very good bones though with the cheese and sour cream duo! Will make again. Kids and hubby liked it alot! Thanks for sharing.
The flavor was really awesome. I added minced garlic and onions. The only thing is that mine did not turn out tender. Cube steak is pretty much the same so I am wondering why mine was a little tough when so many reviews said it was tender. Otherwise a super quick and tasty recipe. Thanks for sharing!
UPDATE: I just made this again last night and I am still amazed at how good it turns out and how easy it is. I left out the bell pepper this time but it was just as good. Thank you again for the recipe it is awesome! I am giving this recipe 5 stars for flavor, innovation and ease! We love fried and boiled cabbage but never thought of putting it on the grill. I added 1/4 cup butter and also some olive oil, celeryt seed and plenty of fresh ground pepper. I made 2, one with the green pepper and one without. I also added some cooked crumbled bacon. Both were really good. Thanks for sharing! it was a hit and good the second day too (for what little was left).
I had to change this up just because I didn't have everything and took a few tips...drained and rinsed black beans, added a can of undrained garbanzos, added half small can of white corn, about 1/4 cup onion, 1/4 cup chopped green pepper and 2 cloves chopped fresh garlic. Drizzeld olive oil over and used a mix of grated jack cheese and crumbled Velveeta. It was so delicious!! I will also use leftovers in burritos. Thanks so much for sharing my husband loved it!
I was very disappointed in the nature of some of the reviews. It does not take an expert cook to read a recipe and know you may not like it based on your personal tastes. This is a recipe exchange community not one for bashing food critic wannabes. First I would recommend as I do with ALL crockpot meat recipes...brown your meat first. Add veggies mid way through and chop them fairly large. I also added carrots, peas and celery. I would say there is one thing missing that would make it great. I am thinking ginger paste but didn't have any on hand. Also the lime juice is a must. My family loved it and as other reviewers said, don't skimp on the garnish. Thank you for sharing and please ignore the ignorance in some of the reviews. Please ALL let's keep site reviews as what works, what doesn't and no matter what be grateful for the those who take the time to share their recipes, without them we wouldn't have such a great site to visit for new ideas.
Delicious. I cooked shrimp in another pan as other reviewers suggested but had to anyway as one of my kiddos hates shrimp and sauteed some chicken breast tenders as well. I sprinkled about a tablespoon of flour in sauce while whisking and a splash of sherry. Very good, very easy and the family loved it. Thanks for sharing!
Delta Queen you are the QUEEN! This was delicious. I also used mozzarella. My only regret is that I can't get Ohio tomatoes now that I live in H-town but will share this with my family up north. It was great! Also my hubby not a huge fan of tomatoes ate 2 helpings!
I am so happy I had those super ripe (or as my kids would say "rotten")bananas I couldn't part with. Not wanting the same old same old, I searched for a cake...WOW so glad I did. My kids begged for a second piece. I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of cooking time. My oven was already at 175 from baking something earlier so I cut the cooking time to about 48 minutes. This is a keeper!
