Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

I made this for my teenage daughter and her friends, and it was a huge hit! I think next time I would double the pasta. It was too much sauce and not enough pasta, although I substituted mezzo penne for the elbow macaroni, so I don't know if that would make a difference? I think you could use any cheese combination you liked for this recipe, so it would be fun to experiment. I can't imagine using half & half, though, because it was already so thick and rich. I used 2% milk. I also added a panko crumb topping (panko mixed with butter) for the last 15 minutes of bake time, because my daughter loves a topping on her mac & cheese. I will definitely be making this again!

Peanut Butter Candy Bars

I've tried several different peanut butter bar recipes over the years, and this is my favorite. It's so easy AND delicious! I followed the recommendation of the previous reviewers and sprinkled a little sea salt over the peanut butter mixture, refrigerated it a bit, and then added the chocolate topping. I chilled it again before letting it come fully to room temperature to cut it. It cut pretty well, but next time I'm going to line the pan with foil so I can lift it out to cut it. That will be easier yet!

Zesty Quinoa Salad

I really loved this salad, and I made it for a Christmas luncheon, so it works for summer AND winter! The ladies at the luncheon loved it and asked for the recipe. I should have made it the night before--I think it would have brought out the flavors more, but it was still excellent. Also, the serving size said 6, but honestly, it serves WAY more!

Caramel Pecan Shortbread Bars

These bars are delicious, but the caramel just doesn't spread very well. I think that they should have more milk (maybe double?) and for my microwave, cook far less, because they were boiling when the two minutes were up, and that made the carmel stiff. Also, next time I would let the shortbread cool at least 20 minutes before spreading on the caramel. Another thing I did was lightly press down the pecans (I used chopped) on top of the chocolate so they wouldn't fall off when cutting and serving.

Coffee Bars

I loved these, and they were fairly simple to make. I forgot to add the almonds to the batter, so instead, I roasted sliced almonds and sprinkled them on top of the frosting. Also, I had to bake them far longer than 18-20 minutes. It was almost 29 minutes before they were baked through, and I don't normally have trouble with my oven, so I think the recipe may be off. I used a glass pan, so I don't know if that made any difference? I plan to add these to my Holiday Cookie Tray.

Cream Peas

This is a perfect recipe in my opinion. Add me to the list of reviewers who thinks that these taste JUST LIKE GRANDMA'S creamed peas! The only thing I did differently is bring the peas to boiling from frozen state, which worked just fine. Nummy!

This was a very easy recipe to make, and it was delicious. My family thought I was a Rock Star for making it! I took the advice of the previous reviewers roasted the pastry-wrapped tenderloin on a rack. It was perfect!

Sweet Corn Bread

This is the best corn bread recipe I have ever made. I always make it when serving the Spicy Pumpkin Chili recipe (as found on this website.) I've made the corn bread twice for company now, and they asked for the recipe both times. This version is more moist than the traditional recipe. Delicious!

Monster Cookies V

I love this recipe. These taste exactly like my Grandmother's Monster Cookies. They crisp on the outside but stay chewy on the inside. I leave out the nuts like Grandma did, but sometimes Grandma would use peanut M&Ms instead of the regular. Delicious!

Pat's Baked Beans

I made the recipe exactly as is and thought they were very good. I do think they could use a bit of vinegar or maybe a dash of liquid smoke. My Grandma made something very similar called Calico Beans that was always my favorite. This recipe works well in a crock pot, too. You just need to take the lid off the crock for the last 45 minutes or so.

Brandy Slush I

I thought this was great but quite sweet, so I used Squirt instead of Sprite. I also used locally-distilled cherry brandy, and all of my girlfriends begged me for the recipe.
