i tried this recipe with brown rice and the almonds i used were chopped and roasted from the bulk section at our grocery store. it tastes great! it was so easy to make ( i used a rice cooker and then just threw handfuls of almonds and currants in). i love the taste and it is a well rounded dish because of the fat and protein in the almonds and you get a fruit serving mixed in there! it is mild enough to go with a wide variety of dishes. i tried it with broccoli and breaded chicken breasts.
i didn't like this at all. the dipping sauce was great but the turkey was rather tasteless considering all the spices etc. that are put on it. it never reached 180 degrees on it's own (even within 40 minutes) so i had to cut it up into little pieces and cook it to get the pink out. it was dry.
