This is the one I have been looking for! It is utterly addictive. Makes a ton of snack mix. I used christmas mix m&m's and square pretzels. Filled disposable decorating bags with it and tied at the base with red and green ribbons to give as office gifts. Resembles snow covered Christmas trees.
These are very easy and fast to make. Fantastic taste, but they do not keep very well. I made them on Friday and they were stale by Sunday. I think when I make them next time if I make them more than 2 days in advance I will freeze them.
Absolutely LOVED this chili. I of course made some modifications. Substituted ground pork for half the ground beef. Was nice, but not a huge difference. I think all-beef would have been even better. Cut back on the amount of sugar as people recommended. Also reduced the amount of beef stock as the chili seemed wet enough. Even relocated Texans approved of this recipe.
UPDATE 2019: It's my MIL's favorite Christmas gift. No nuts added. She's requested it every year the last 3 years! Really moist and great flavor! I doubled the recipe with no problem. Used macadamias and almonds. All the friends who received as gifts were very pleased!!
This quick bread turned out VERY dry and tastless. I may retry it with more spices and a different eggnog recipe. I wish I hadn't wasted the homemade eggnog on this.
DELICIOUS!! Texture was good too. Extract can be replaced with fiore de sicilia (orange flower water and vanilla) for another traditional italian flavor. I made 2 batches one with anise and one with the orange flavor. Everyone was happy!
Made this for a friend after she gave birth to twins. Didn't know she wasn't a banana bread fan. She is now!! Subbed raisins for the dates and used Oatmeal Stout. Wonderful flavor and texture. Doubling the recipe for holiday gifts.
Very nice bread. I especially liked the cinnamon sugar crust. I think I might increase the heat slightly when I bake it next as it did appear a bit pale.
Oh yum! This was a real hit at dinner with friends on a snowy Sunday night. We topped it with vanilla whipped cream. Definitely a keeper and I love that it's something you can whip up on the fly out of the pantry.
I get more raves for these macaroons than any other cookie I make. Thanks so much for the recipe!
Not sure what caused difficulty for others. I loved the texture of this dough! We rolled (using a heavy dusting of cocoa instead of flour) to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch and cut using 3 inch cutters. Baked for 8 minutes and they were perfect! Loved the "crisp brownie" texture. Also am using this as my "gift cookie" for work colleagues. Using 6 inch tree and snowflake cutters and then decorating with royal icing. P.S. Aren't grandma's recipes the best??
The dog likes them and they are easy easy to make. We used cat and house shaped cookie cutters. Will be giving as gifts. They seem a little plain but I am happy to have something not based on meat products or bananas as an option.
