I'm only giving this recipe 3 stars because I had to follow the reviewers and substituted oil for the shortening in this recipe and the cake didn't come out looking as I hoped it would. I have to admit the cake taste is very good but it wasn't as light as I would have like it to be. Overall not a bad recipe, just need to make your own adjustments...I tried the vanilla version and used chocolate buttercream frosting on it...I may try the chocolate version and give this recipe a 2nd try.
Yummy recipe, just the day after it seemed to have a little funny taste to it. Will try it again though, very good recipe.
I made these on Christmas Eve night and they were fantastic! My dad literally ate half the batch while they were on the cooling rack! He preferred them without the confectioners' sugar while I preferred them with it. They were buttery, melt in your mouth and just yummy! The vanilla flavour was a nice touch. I did make a few changes though, I used cake flour in place of all-purpose flour and since I didn't have walnuts on hand I used some roasted ground nuts (grinded them to a powdery consistency as someone suggested). I also followed MommyFromSeattle's advice and rolled the balls in some white sugar before baking. I added a few chocolate chips to some of the dough as an experiment, it was great! Just don't put in alot of them;). I plan on making some more for New Years to hand out as gifts to the neighbours. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!
These cookies are absolutely delish! I'm gonna have to bake cookies more often lol. But I made a few changes to the recipe. I used half shortening, half butter and I also put in chocolate chips and chopped up a Nutrageous bar in the batter cause I was short on M&M's. The only thing I didn't expect was how much they seemed to spread . I think the 2nd batch spread more than the first. I chilled the 2nd batch though. I'm not sure if that happened because I used butter but overall it's fantastic, definitely 5 stars! EDIT - The stayed really fresh even without being placed in an airtight container, just wonderful!:)
This is the first time I've made cheesecake and let me say this came out perfect! I followed the recipe for the filling exactly but altered the crust a little since I couldn't get plain grahams (only cinnamon and fudge covered.) I used plain digestive biscuits instead and it came out tasting exactly like a graham crust. I also made these into 12 mini cheesecakes in a mini-muffin pan. They were the perfect bite sized treats. I made 6 of them with a plain crust and added melted choc chips to the other 6 crusts. They both taste wonderful. I think I'll make them all chocolate next time though. I drizzled a bit of toffee sauce (recipe on this site) on the plain crusted ones and they were divine. The ones with the choc crust was perfect as it was. I'll definitely make these again!
Such a yummy recipe and easy too but wow it sure makes alot! I halved the recipe and it still came out plenty. I drizzled a little over the Mini Cheesecakes III recipe found on this site right before serving and it was divine. I'm gonna use the rest on ice cream or maybe I'll make a pound cake. Very easy and wonderful recipe.
Thank you for the wonderful recipe. I love to have it in the morning. Instead of using white sugar though I use a teaspoon or so of brown sugar in mine.
Wonderful recipe. I haven't eaten funnel cake in ages and they are so expensive to buy...almost 5-6 dollars for one. But these were so easy to make, the only changes I made was instead of normal milk I used a vanilla flavoured milk and added some grated nutmeg to the batter. Was just wonderful with the sprinkled confectioners' sugar. Thanks for the quick, inexpensive and easy recipe!
Very nice biscotti recipe. It wasn't too sweet for my taste and the white chocolate added the perfect hints of extra sweet to this recipe. I used white chocolate chips instead of chocolate chunks. Also it crumbled quite a bit while cutting but I managed to save a a few of them without breaking. The biscotti itself came out really nice, though a few came out brownie textured, which I believe is a fault on my part cause they were cut a bit thicker than other pieces which came out exactly like biscotti is supposed to. I enjoyed it both ways though, thanks for the post!
This crust came out really nice but for some reason it did not puff up alot, only slightly...which I think is probably a mistake on my part. I'll definitely try this recipe again though, it tasted great! The only thing I did different was pre-baking the crust for about 15 minutes on a low temperature before adding the toppings. Thanks for the yummy recipe.
Made one of these for my dad tonight and he absolutely loved it. Thanks for a wonderful recipe.
I really needed a new pizza dough recipe and this is it! I followed a few other reviewers advice and dissolved the yeast and sugar in the warm cup of water. Also I let the dough rise for 20 minutes and pre-baked it for about 8 minutes before adding the toppings. The pizza came out fantastic. I didn't add any herbs to the dough cause the pizza sauce I made was enough to compensate for the lack of seasoning in the dough. I must say the crust came out wonderfully soft and was just perfect. My dad said "this is the way I like my pizza." This will be the recipe I use from now on. Thanks!
