Mexican Style Corn
On the streets of Santa Maria, California, street vendors (think an ice cream man with a 'trash can' full of hot corn on the cob instead of ice cream) roam the sidewalks selling corn on the cob for a dollar an ear! They slide a wooden skewer in one end for you to hold the corn. We crave it often and it's become a regular on our Saturday grill nights! Give it a try. You'll be surprised!
Roasted Corn and Basmati Rice Salad
The unique flavor of basmati rice and the rich nuttiness of roasted corn are highlighted by fresh lemon juice and basil in a salad that's always a crowd pleaser at our summer barbecues. This salad is best served well chilled.
Lemon-Parsley Green Beans
This is a delicious lemony, fried green bean recipe. I found it while shopping one Saturday at the local produce market.
Fresh Corn and Zucchini Saute
This is a great way to use two of the season's most bountiful crops. Kernels of corn fresh from the cob and tender zucchini are put to wonderful use in this simple and satisfying summer side dish.
Cream Corn Like No Other
Quick, easy, and delicious, this creamy, cheesy corn dish is a family-fave!
Grandma's Polish Perogies
Make this family recipe for delicious potato dumplings, easy to customize.
How to Make Country Gravy
This is a beautiful example of classic, very old-school American country cooking. There are a lot of variations, and this is my favorite. This goes on fried chicken, country-fried steak, and biscuits.
Sausage and Rice Stuffed Peppers
Stuffed green peppers with rice and sausage in cheesy tomato sauce. Tomato soup is used instead of tomato sauce. Very, very good.
Copycat Panera Broccoli Cheddar Soup
Enjoy this rich and cheesy, restaurant-worthy broccoli soup at home.
Brussels Sprouts Gratin
A great way to have Brussels sprouts with a little more flair. The cream takes away the bitterness you usually find in Brussels. This is a family favorite during the holidays!
