I made this using leftover smoked shoulder, figuring that the texture/taste of it would compliment the potatoes. I was a bit dissapointed, though, because the first step (cooking the ham with the onions) eliminated the texture/flavor of the smoked shoulder. Also, I made this dish ahead of time, let it cool in the refrigerator, and the heated it for dinner. The time it spent in the fridge thickened it, for initially it was too thin. Still, it was warming and filling, especially served with cornbread.
My family and I had just gone apple picking, and I wanted a school lunch that would incorporate the apple in an unusual way. The only beans I had on hand were cannellini beans, and I used celery instead of green bell pepper. The dressing was great, and the salad itself was unique and refreshing. Thank you!
I made these cookies for my soccer team to celebrate our last game. I didn't have ANYTHING in the house, but even my pantry could withstand these cookies! They were quick and easy. My team loved them, and all 65 cookies were gone within 2 minutes. They are dense and fudgy, rather like a brownie bite, and get better with age. Thanks for this great recipe!
I am a mocha fanatic, but there are no Starbucks where I live. This a great, and healthier, alternative. I used a creme brulee flavored coffee, and heated the milk before adding it. I also used 1 tsp of sugar and two packets of splenda, and added a dash of cinnamon. Following other reviewers' advice, I mixed the dry ingredients and milk into a paste before adding the coffee in order to avoid lumps. A definate keeper!
I made these for a christmas get-together. While the mushrooms had great flavor and were cooked perfectly, the crab was a bit too masked, and didn't shine like I had hoped it would. All around, though, a nice dish.
These cupcakes were a bit dissapointing. Instead of being moist, mine came out fairly dry, and the chocolate flavor didn't pop. In the end, they were bland. I served them with a choclate frosting, but a citrus frosting might have complimented them more. Still, they were healthy, so I can't complain.
YUMMY! This dish was warming and filling. The beans were sweet, and when served with extra salsa it was the perfect family meal. Just as a warning: this dish isn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination. You might want to refrain from serving it to guests or to those you wish to impress.
Tasty. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it takes much longer than eight minutes to melt. Ours took about 22, and for the final 7 minutes we raised the oven temperature about 50 degrees. This item won't be a regular around our house, but it was unusual and enjoyable. Thanks!
This dish was good. I ran out of dijon mustard, so I used a combination of Coney Island style mustard and premade honey mustard. Overall, not bad, although it was extremely unattractive. I also gave it four stars because it satisfied my mother, who is extremely picky.
YUM YUM! These chimichangas, my family's first, made our Cinco De Miyo a great time! We used Italian spiced ground turkey because it was all that was available (and my mom can't eat beef), and it turned out wonderful. All the leftovers were eaten, and they made a beautiful presentation. Thank you!
These were NOT very good. Ours came out flavorless and dry. We will not make these again.
OOOOH, YUMMY! This was delicious! We used twice the amount of potatoes, and used half of the oil called for. The amount of dressing was perfectly preportioned to the salad. The combination of sweet, tangy, and nutty was fabulous. We'll make this again (and it's pretty too!)
