Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

This recipe is one of the best I've tried so far, but too much pepper for our taste buds. I used dehydrated parsley & basil and regular old pepper (not freshly ground), & margarine since I had no butter. It still came out good! As others mentioned, next time I'll try decreasing the pepper, & doubling the sauce (we like lots of linguine and makes good leftovers), and also using larger shrimp (so it doesn't take as long to shell them).

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Another keeper - I was looking for a way to use up my turkey leftovers from Christmas and was shocked how good it came out. I read the other reviews and added more noodles (3 cups whole wheat),more veggies (including mushrooms), and tried substituting the cans of chicken broth with organic chicken broth, a low sodium one, and a garlic flavored one. I was surprised that it had so much flavor with so little effort. It really is a great soup - thanks for submitting this.

I wanted a heartier fall version (i.e. more meat) so, I read all the reviews and tried: adding fresh spinach (1/2 bag), 1 can diced italian tomatoes & an 8oz can tomato paste (instead of tomato juice). In addition to prosciutto, added 2 links each of turkey sausage & hot sausage to give it a little snap (although the cayenne pepper may have been enough kick). No dried parsley but didn't miss it. This recipe is very flexible/easy to play with. I'll make it again - great cold weather eating.

Flatlander Chili

Easy to make, uses a variety of spices but well-balanced. I substitute ground turkey for the meat and use a couple cans of diced italian tomatoes to give it a chunkier texture (instead of the sauce). I haven't tried another chili recipe since I found this one. I especially like the celery which balances out the spicy flavors. I usually make a pot on Sunday, and it always tastes better the next day.

Michelle's Blonde Chicken Chili

I followed the recipe exactly. It was better the next day, especially after serving in a flour tortilla w/sour cream and sharp cheese. I originally rated it lower, but didn't serve it with anything and the flavors hadn't meshed, the beans took over. Next time I'll try some of the suggestions from other reviewers -- shredding the chicken, increasing the spices, maybe try adding some non-bean addition like corn or celery to add some texture, and of course, fresh garlic vs. powdered. Love that fresh cilantro. The Flatlander chili is one of my favorite chili recipes - more of a traditional chili (w/red beans and tomato) but this recipe is a nice change of pace.

Easy & colorful dish. I modified this as others suggested - only used 1 onion & added 1lb of lean ground meat, which meant more seasoning was needed. The sour cream is really good with it too. I might try it with some fresh cilantro next time.

Pizza Without the Red Sauce

Thank you for submitting this recipe - it was easy and fun to make on my pizza stone. I see why everyone rated it so high. My husband like it and he's not a fan of pizza.

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Excellent - a KEEPER! I tweaked a bit as suggested by others (more sauce, cut chicken before frying). Next time will try adding an add'l small can of diced tomato (this time I added about a cup of leftover jar sauce, and made a little less penne. Still slightly too hot for me, but my husband loved it). I used 2 large eggs and had leftover egg, probably 2 medium eggs would work. Used 1/2 cup less breadcrumbs, still had leftover. Thanks Brooklyn Girl!

Fabulous Wet Burritos

4.5 stars given. I was a little disappointed as everyone rated it so high, but my husband loved it. He didn't use a lot of the wet sauce - he put some inside the burrito. Lower rating by me as my tummy didn't like the wet sauce that I piled on top of the burrito. Too many cans for my taste, but I think most people would like this approach as it's easy to prepare.

Gotta give this a 5 as it's easy, doesn't take long, economical, healthy, & most importantly tastes good consistently when I make it. As a pasta-lover, this has become a standby - one of those recipes to fall back on and make in a snap. I just make sure I have a can of sauce and diced (or stewed) tomatoes on hand & use whatever pasta I feel like (multigrain, penne..). I throw in a little extra sauce (tomato or even spaghetti sauce) if I have it. Like others, added some red pepper flakes to give extra snap.
