I was skeptical when I saw the ingredients, but had a bunch of carrots I had to use. Followed recipe as written. This was fabulous! It is really a kind of 'creamed carrots'. Will surely make this again!
What a fantastic, simple recipe. I added the anchovies (a 2oz can) with the garlic and dissolved it into the oil. A 15oz can diced tomatoes works just fine. In 30 min I had it ready and the kitchen cleaned up! Deliciously salty. Tastes more complicated than it is. I've already made it many times! This is a keeper for sure.
Ah, the great egg debate! First of all, really, they're just eggs. But very good eggs. I mixed the mayo/water first. Texture was perfect. Maybe I tasted a hint of mayo. Seems like an easy foolproof way to perfect eggs (maybe I just wasn't good at it before!). And as a bonus, they didn't stick to the skillet nearly as much!
Excellent! I no trouble with the noodles... just pushed them down into the saurkraut so they sat at the bottom of the dish in the liquid. I agree it needs more bread crumbs.. and cubes would be just fine/easier.
Wow! This was fantastic. None of the flavors are overwhelming and they blend well. I added some minced garlic (1-2 tsp) to the onions in the last 5-10min of cooking. Otherwise I followed as written. Very flavorful. Will make again for sure!
Delicious! And easy to make. The kids are already asking for it again. I used 3 stalks of celery and one small/med onion (a tad more than the recipie calls for but easier than measuring). Perfect.
Fantastic! I left it at a rolling boil about 2 minutes. Texture was perfect and they held together perfectly. Because one reviewer said they were awfully sweet I cut sugar to 1 1/3 cup and they were still a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time I'll use 1 cup. I used a 'heaping' 1/2c peanut butter (probably 3/4 cup). I melted the vanilla and peanut butter into the chocolate mixture until smooth before adding the oats. And I did NOT use quick oats (I saw some reviews that said you must). Either is fine. Cooking oats are less processed and a bit better for you. You cookie might be a little more chewy. I don't think I can tell the difference. Great recipie!
Wow! These are fantastic! I didn't change a thing. And so easy.
VERY sweet. Diluted with milk them was able to sip it. Good flavor though. This is definitely for those who love a sugary drink.
YUM! My cherries were very tart/tangy so it wasn't too sweet. I substituted brown sugar for some (about 1/4 cup) of the sugar and sprinkled a little cinnamon on the cherries before pouring on the juice. By the way, this is not really a 'pudding'. It is more like a yummy cake with a cherry topping!
Excellent! I have been making applesauce using this basic recipe for years though with much less sugar. But save yourself some time and trouble. If you are using a food mill there is no need to peel or core the apples. Just cut into chunks and cut out any bad parts. The seeds etc will not go through the food mill. For variety add cinnamon, or melt some red hot cinnamon candies into the still hot applesauce. Usually no need to put back on the stove if you run through food mill just after boiling. The sugar/candies will melt just fine. Enjoy!
WOW! This is fantastic! My squash plant has wet rot and I am desperately trying to save it so I can make this over and over! I used one box of Jiffy corn muffin mix (baked in a loaf pan) and crumbled it all up. It was more than the recipe called for but seemed perfect. And wasn't soggy as some reviewers suggested. I skipped the sugar as the cornbread is a bit sweet. Most of the squash I precooked/steamed but I put in an extra handful of raw squash. I cut it into pretty small cubes. (Again, added a little more squash than recipe called for) One reviewer suggested not bothering to precook the squash. While the few extra pieces I threw in not precooked added a nice texture, I wouldn't want it all that way. Definitely preboil or steam for perfect stuffing texture. I used butter instead of margarine (because what is that really?!) and added a bit of garlic powder. I had fresh sage in the garden. What a perfect summer dish! I immediately had requests to make it again. Now if I can just save that plant....
