Krista Ferrill Donahue

I am a stay at home mom of 5 daughters. I love my "job" and cooking/baking is my therapy on many days. I love the thrill of the find. When I find a new recipe, I love to share it! Over the years I have developed a very sophisticated palate. Trying new foods and sampling local "flav" on vacations is a great joy to me. I love reading cookbooks and discussing food with anyone that will listen. I am truly a foodie now!

This was fine. But it would definitly benefit from a longer marinating time. I would also boil down the leftover sauce after you take out the raw meat. Then serve it as a sauce, it would help it a lot!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef

Oh boy have I stumbled on something. I did substitute more beef broth (2 cups) and added a 2nd seasoning packet of Italian as recommended. When ready to serve, place meat on an open faced piece of bread (hoagie style), then add a few sliced up peppercini's. On top of that, I added swiss on some, provolone on others. Stuck them in a 400 oven for 5-10 minutes to melt the cheese and crisp up the bread. Wow was that a great way to serve these. I used the reserve juice and served it au jus style. Got such good compliments and it dressed it up enough for company at an Oscar party!!

This is so yummy. I grew up going to the Cracker Barrel, having biscuits and apple butter. I can now make it at home! I put it on before I go to bed, wake up and ready to can it! I give them away as Christmas gifts, accompanying the cinnamon pancakes in a jar!

Strawberry Cake and Frosting

Everyone seemed to enjoy this. Icing was pretty sweet, but still good. I read the authors' notes in the review section and had no trouble with the frosting once I drained the juice into the cake as opposed to putting it in the frosting.

We enjoyed this. It needed salt when I served it. I did double the sauce as others suggested, added garlic, more mushrooms and onion. Bacon would be great, just didnt have it on hand.

We enjoyed this. I too added a bit more chicken. Even after the salt/pepper, it still needed a bit of love. So bring on the garlic powder. Everyone really enjoyed, I will be making it again. Made tons, great for leftovers, served over noodles

I went with others and added a total of 3 TBLSP of poppy seeds. I increased the oil to 1 1/4 cup. I also omitted the extract and used the juice and zest of 2 lemons instead. It was wonderful!! With the changes, you will love it!

Wont make again. Nothing special, I have made much better crisps. The topping was dry, so add more butter if you intend to make it.

Apple Crisp

I was looking for a way to use the yummiest peaches that I bought from Costco. I used them instead of apples in this recipe. Keep the sugar the same, no cutting back like on the apple version. I did cut back on the cinnamon. I also did 1 1/2 on the topping as suggested. Glad I did, could have even possibly doubled it. Turned out great out, will make again.

Good Old-Fashioned Pancakes

Finally, the perfect pancake!! My usual has been from Americas Test Kitchens, but this has now replaced it!! Of course I heap the tblsp of sugar to make it extra yummy. But other than that, no changes whatsoever. Make sure the griddle is hot when you put it on to get optimum fluff!!

I thought this was tasty, but nothing amazing. I agree on adding the pepperjack cheese to kick it up. Not great reheated and makes a lot, so be sure to make it when you have a crowd.
