  • Prepare cake mix as directed

  • In a sauce pan add crushed pineapple (drained) brown sugar and cream cheese cook on low heat until combined. (there may be small chunks of cream cheese not melted & that's ok).

  • Line your pan with pineapple slices, then pour your crushed pineapple mixture over the slices. Now pour your prepared cake mix over the pineapple. Bake as directed on the cake mix box, however you'll need to add about 3 to 5 extra minutes (depending on your oven)

  • Because of the pineapple mixture it is very difficult to flip this cake, that's why I didn't call it an upside down cake. When you cut & serve it is when you should "flip" it.
