Pretty good, not too heavy. I used one tsp dried basil. I was afraid two would be too overpowering. I think it turned out fine. My husband really liked it.

Best Apple Crisp Ever

This was really easy and really yummy. I used Jonathan apples from a local orchard. The tartness of the apples contrasted nicely with the sweet, crunchy crust. This is excellent served warm with vanilla ice cream. My son loved it! I also saw this same exact recipe demonstrated on Zoom, a PBS kids show.

This is a good recipe (easy and yummy). It's more of a soup than a stew. I only used 1/2 the chili powder because I thought it might be too strong for my kids, and they really liked it!

I've used this recipe a lot. I use plain low-fat yogurt instead of margarine. Also good for pork chops!

Best Prime Rib Roast

I served this for Christmas Eve dinner. I didn't have any fresh ginger, so I used a tsp. ground ginger. It turned out wonderful. I poured the pan drippings through a metal sieve to remove the marmalade (and other) chunks, then mixed it with a package of instant gravy mix and the gravy was incredible too. My husband said this was the best prime rib he has ever tasted! My in-laws really seemed to enjoy it. My son, who was tired and cranky that evening, refused to eat everything else on his plate, but he ate all his meat!! I have never made roast beef before, but this recipe was really easy and very, very good.

This recipe is easily modified to suit your mood or tastes. Following the other reviewers' suggestions, I used a packet of taco seasoning instead of the spices the recipe calls for. I also added onion and some chopped red pepper to the meat while browning. I used ground turkey instead of beef, and a can of black beans, drained and rinsed, instead of the red. I thought it could use some color, so I then added some chopped green pepper I had in my freezer. Finally, I served it over white rice instead of macaroni. My husband wrapped his in a tortilla and ate it that way. Overall this is a great, versatile recipe. Thanks, Katrina!
