One of five kids, I grew up on a farm in the country. Everything I ate as a kid was home-grown & home-cooked, including the meat. I swear I was a teenager before I heard of cake made from a box and never tasted fast food before I got my license. Okay perhaps a bit sheltered :-) but all-in-all I miss it. My family also made and sold Maple syrup. As a mom of only two I marvel now at how my parents managed all that! I haven't been able to give my kids the same heritage but they do at least know home-cooking. I have a fourteen year old autistic son who actually loves to cook too and a husband and daughter who just like to eat what we cook. :-)
