I'll never settle for plain old garlic bread again. Even my finicky kids loved this!
I always hated spinach on its own, or in anything, until I tried this recipe. I know what I'll be making for the next company smorgasboard!
I made this for the first time last night. It required next to no effort, and the end result was smooth and aromatic. I think it's a very versatile sauce, and being a mexican food lover, I look forward to incorporating it into future recipes.
My kids love pizza, and I was tired of the cheap-tasting store-bought varieties. My wallet was also tired of the delivered restaurant-style pizza, so I decided to use this recipe. This was the best pizza crust I have ever made (in fact the only pizza crust I have ever made), and my kids raved about it!! I am finally considered a better cook than my mother. I intended to follow the recipe to the letter, but I ran out of olive oil and had to use canola...my brown sugar was a little hard (albeit dissolvable), and I used a standard non-stick pizza pan. Then I discovered that the bottom element in my oven had burnt out. Believe it or not, this pizza crust still came out perfect(after cranking up the heat on the top element and placing the crust on the lowest rack). I can't wait to get my oven fixed, buy some olive oil and brown sugar, and try it again!
I made this tonight for my boyfriend and my two kids, hoping that I had hit the jackpot. The end result was good; my boyfriend went for seconds, but my kids were on the fence about it (probably because the presentation was something that they weren't used to). My daughter kept examining each bite as though it were a science experiment...my son, usually a hearty eater, claimed he was full before being half-done his portion. All in all a good recipe; I will make it again and try some of the suggestions of the others (ie. use italian sausage, use more sour cream & cheese, more sauce,etc). The sour cream really made the dish. I still think my lasagna's better though :-)
This salad was great without reserving bacon drippings for the dressing (I used pre-cooked slices to save time and mess). Also, I have to say as a die-hard Miracle Whip fan, that nothing makes a salad like Miracle Whip...I figure that's why some of the 1-2 star reviews who used mayonnaise stated that the dressing was "too bland". Not with Miracle Whip! (Just so everyone knows, I don't work for the company). This salad really comes together with home-made croutons, so put it out of your mind that you're going to get the real BLT taste with store-bought. Not at all. Try this recipe and you'll agree that it tastes like an authentic BLT if you put an extra two minutes' effort into the croutons (I used regular texas bread because I didn't have the french stuff, by the way). Other than the miracle whip and the pre-cooked bacon and the texas bread, the only substitution I made was balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar. MMMMM. Smooth, flavourful, tangy dressing, and my boyfriend agreed. I will definately make this again...perhaps not for a crowd, because the romaine does wilt fast, but I'm sure I can impress a couple of my friends in the near future this BBQ season. Go for it! It's easy! You won't be disappointed. Thanks for the recipe.
Do not, repeat, DO NOT, attempt to make this for the first time BY YOURSELF for a dinner party, especially for your future in-laws. It really is time-consuming, and unless you have all ingredients on hand and ready to prep, plus about 3 hours to pull it all together, you're going to feel like you've gotten in over your head. I would have given this 1 star, except for the fact the the sauce was indeed very flavourful. The sauce, however, was the main thing holding me up (the other reviewers that complained about the reducing time taking so long were right). I used cornstarch in a feeble attempt to thicken it, but stopped after 2 tbs. because I was afraid of what the taste/texture would be. I was too tired to enjoy the meal once it was finally done. Everyone said that they liked it, but I wasn't sure if they were just feeling sorry for me because they saw what I went through, or if they were really telling the truth. Bottom line is, make sure you have a friend or significant other helping you with the prep of this dish and anything else that is to accompany it, because there's nothing worse than finally getting it done and thinking, "oh no, I forgot to do a salad and a side dish." There's no way you're going to be able to keep those steaks warm and tender and not have to serve them with a chainsaw. Good luck to all who make this...I won't be making it again.
Oh My, this is absolutely the best quesadilla recipe I've ever tried (actually the only one I've ever tried). Let me elaborate in saying that I've been to dozens of restaurants and have ordered quesadillas (in search of the "perfect" quesadilla) but have only come close once. I hit the jackpot tonight on my own. This is an explosion of flavour with the pico de gallo, and enhanced only by the mellowness of sour cream and salsa, should you choose to use it on the side. My first slice had neither, and I was hooked. Flavourful, easy, and I highly recommend it as an appetizer to your next Mexican-themed dinner. Try it without chicken, for a vegetarian hit!!
I didn't try these, but my boyfriend absolutely loved them. He raved about the potatoes all night (I should have tried them but wasn't hungry at the time). The only substitution I made was swiss cheese for the cheddar (I didn't have any cheddar on hand, but the swiss evidently worked just as well). A very easy recipe to make, and I will definately make it again. Excellent recipe Debra!
Excellent, easy recipe. I made this tonight while doing a million other things. I also opened my cupboard, only to discover that I have no breadcrumbs. Fellow review-readers: don't worry about no breadcrumbs (you solve the sogginess issue immediately). I threw the seasoned salt & garlic powder into the flour and dredged it...then dipped it in egg...then dredged again in the flour mixture. Perfect! the coating didn't come off! And didn't become soggy. I agree with the extra frying time, prior to baking the chops. Maybe this helps. It is one of the easiest recipes I've ever made.
These were easy to make. A guilt-free cure for the munchies!
