Six men withstood a 6,000 calorie-a-day diet for a week. For science. The results were...not pretty.

They gained 8 pounds. But it only took three days for signs of insulin resistance to kick in. To meet this metabolic assault, their bodies unleashed, as the LA Times put it , "a flood of oxygen byproducts that are toxic to nearby cells."
