As it turns out, that wasn't actually her salad of choice. If you don't know what we're talking about, it's the bulgur, cucumber, garbanzo bean, red onion, parsley, mint, feta, and pistachio salad that the internet claims Aniston ate daily on the set of Friends. However, in a recent interview with SHAPE, Aniston sheds some light on those rumors saying they're exactly that: rumors. "I'm sorry, I feel like I'm disappointing everybody, but that's not my salad," she said. "It looks delicious, but it's not the salad that I had on Friends." The actual salad is made with shredded lettuce, chicken, egg whites, a couple of garbanzo beans, bacon, a basic vinaigrette, and sometimes pecorino cheese from a nearby Italian restaurant. Even though Aniston says she doesn't know where the viral salad came from, it didn't come out of nowhere. It dates back to a 2010 Los Angeles Times interview with Courteney Cox where she says she, Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow ate lunch together every single day and ate the same salad every day. "We always had the same thing — a Cobb salad. But it wasn't really a Cobb salad. It was a Cobb salad that Jennifer doctored up with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans and I don't know what," she said. The internet seemingly took that paired with Aniston's 2020 Living Proof Instagram takeover where she shared a photo of her lunch with the caption: "My perfect salad. Bulgar, cucumbers, parsley, mint, red onion, garbanzo beans, feta cheese, & pistachios," and ran with it to create the viral Friends salad that people can't stop making. The "Friends salad" took off on TikTok and Instagram with hundreds of videos of users making the infamous salad — including user @everything_delish whose video brought in more than 21 million views. We know trying to follow this who's salad is it anyway story feels like Joey trying to keep up with Phoebe's "they don't know that we know they know we know." But for now, it's safe to say that while Aniston may have enjoyed the bulgur salad once in her life, it's not the salad she ate every day on the set of Friends. So, I guess that means we have a new salad to try. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why! Other Submit
