Raisin Bran just got a serious upgrade.

Tell me if you've been here: As a kid, I couldn't comprehend why my father ate Raisin Bran, so I just assumed that he liked it because he was old. But by the time I reached my 20s, I didn't mind raisin-and-bran-mixture cereals anymore. I even found myself reaching for a box of the stuff when I strolled down the cereal aisle. It was like I'd gone through a strange rite of passage. Raisin Bran was my favorite cereal, therefore I was an adult.

There's just something about Raisin Bran that makes you feel centered. The crunch from the bran. The sweet, sweet raisins. The fiber. When I see a box of Raisin Bran or Raisin Nut Bran, I feel comfort, even if sometimes all that sugar makes me jumpy.

Well, Raisin Bran lovers like me will be pleased to know another variety is coming to the supermarket: Meet Raisin Bran Toasted Oats and Honey — it's the Raisin Bran you know and love, but with the added bonus of toasted oats (more texture means more fiber!) and a touch of genuine honey.

Is Raisin Bran Toasted Oats and Honey a power play against General Mills, purveyor of Raisin Nut Bran, which is truly one of the greatest cereals of all time? Perhaps. We'll know for sure in January, when Raisin Bran Toasted Oats and Honey hits supermarket shelves nationwide. Kellogg's has already gone ahead and promised a 21.1-ounce family-size box, which will market for $3.99. If you don't want that much fiber in your life, the regular box will go for $2.99.
