We'll pass, thanks.

Hostess is quite the jokester and seems to enjoy pranking American snack food fans. (Remember the tweets about mustard-filled Twinkies for National Mustard Day?) But last week, the brand hinted at a new combination that left many Twinkies fans appalled and aghast.

Hostess, which also makes Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, and Donettes, took to Twitter to share the top-secret news that they were releasing a peanut butter and pickle sandwich Twinkie — or at least had thought about it.

On Twitter, the brand posted, "Only the real ones know about these #Twinkies #PeanutButter #Pickles."

Of course, some followers were outraged, but many played along, guessing it was a joke and poking fun at the surprise. However, the brand fought back, making everyone re-think their suspicion.

Despite the Twitter fun, Hostess did release a statement to "TODAY" saying that the PB&P Twinkies are in fact fake, and they won't put any devoted Hostess customers through that type of torture.

"This is just some social media levity from Hostess. We regularly feature fun, fictional products on our social media, and this is one of those," a Hostess spokesperson said.

For now, you can load up on delicious seasonal Hostess treats like Pumpkin Spice Twinkies and Iced Pumpkin Cupcakes. And say a sweet, sweet goodbye to the peanut butter and pickle-flavored desserts no one asked for.
