Panera Made a Bread Bowl Glove So You Can Drink Iced Coffee All Year Long

Finally, support for the year-round iced coffee drinkers.

We all know the type of person who refuses to give up on iced coffee even in the dead of winter. Maybe we even are that type of person. Some folks just cling to a belief in the superiority of iced coffee no matter the weather, and they're willing to suffer frozen fingers to prove it.

Maybe it doesn't have to be that way, though, at least if a wacky yet somehow practical offering from Panera has anything to say about it. To help warm some hands, Panera is giving away limited quantities of an "Iced & Toasty Bread Bowl Glove," which takes inspiration from their iconic carbo-loaded soup vessel, turning it into a sort of hand warmer that doubles as a cup holder.

What inspired such a fashionable-yet-functional offering? As it turns out, a survey conducted by Panera found that 78 percent of American iced coffee drinkers say they resist the temptation to switch to hotter coffee as the temperatures drop. If that data proves accurate, the competition to get a hold of (literally) the only 450 total Iced & Toasty Bread Bowl Gloves that the bakery and coffee chain is giving out could be fierce.

To get the most use out of said Bread Bowl Glove, you might want to consider Panera's coffee subscription program. Launched last year, it lets you get unlimited Panera coffee via their MyPanera+ program for the low price of just $8.99 a month. Even picking up just one coffee a week would have that kind of deal pretty much pay for itself.

If you want to jam your hand inside a (fake) bread bowl that can also hold coffee, you'll want to get over to Icedandtoasty.com ASAP to try your luck. If that doesn't work, maybe find a friendly teacher in Vermont who can knit you a pair of Bernie-style mittens.
