When it comes to the paleo diet, dinner recipes get the attention. But our hunting-and-gathering ancestors didn't live on dinner alone. So we've come up with a collection of paleo lunch recipes. They're healthy midday meals to power you through the modern-day savanna, whatever that may be.

Eggs, avocado, and bacon -- that's all you need for a quick, healthy paleo lunch. "The contrast between the soft and fresh avocado and the creaminess of a poached egg is brilliant," says NYJEN. "Good thing it's also very healthy and satisfying."

These paleo salmon cakes take less than 20 minutes to make. Make them in advance and enjoy them chilled on a green salad for a super-healthy paleo lunch. "Super delicious, super fast, super paleo," says PATTYXLYNN.

Double up this recipe and freeze some in lunch-size portions. As with most chilis, this paleo chili is even tastier the next day. "Paleo chili is made without beans," explains Lnldad. "In the West we typically include beans, but I think even non-paleo eaters will enjoy this deep smoky flavorful chili. Serve with green onions and sour cream."

There's talk in the reviews about whether it's okay to eat dairy in the paleo diet. Ripstel says, "Some people opt for a little dairy on a paleo diet, especially butter. I think it is more of a grey area than a hard rule." Nichola added: "Not paleo, but can be considered 'primal' because of the dairy." So choose cheese if you like or simply skip it; either way, you'll love this quick paleo lunch.

Packed with protein, hardboiled eggs are a smart choice for paleo lunches. "I wanted to make a healthier egg salad," says Karen. "This one uses avocado instead of mayonnaise."

Here's a paleo lunch recipe that's ready in about 20 minutes. This simple salad combines mashed avocados with chicken, raisins, walnuts, and seasonings. Roll up the avocado and chicken mixture in Bibb lettuce leaves.

To make this simple Nicoise salad perfectly paleo, you can skip the white beans. Combine tuna and olives with slivered red onions, steamed green beans, hardcooked eggs, and a simple olive oil and lemon juice dressing. "Add a little chopped parsley to the salad for color and serve it with salted tomato slices," says Pam.
