Virginia may be for lovers, but is Mississippi for mashed potato lovers?
Some may speculate that's the case after bowls of mashed potatoes are appearing on porches in the neighborhood of Belhaven in Jackson, Mississippi.
The root vegetable outbreak is likely a harmless prank, but some worry that the mashed potatoes may be laced with poison. Jordan Lewis told WJTV, the local Jackson news station, that she posted on Facebook regarding the mashed potatoes that she found on her car and discovered she wasn't the only one encountering this puzzling mashed potatoes cameo. "This neighborhood does a lot of quirky things, we decorate road signs we put Christmas trees in our potholes, so it's not surprising at all, that's why I love this neighborhood, because they do so many strange things, but it's definitely one of the weirdest things I've seen since living in Jackson," Lewis told the network.

What's your theory? We like Lewis' guess that "someone just had a lot of leftovers," but wonder what the real motivation behind this odd occurrence is.
While we definitely wouldn't eat these strange mashed potatoes (or feed them to our four-legged friends) if we found them on our front step, we can't help but be amused by this mystery.
And, yes, now we're hungry for mashed potatoes.
