Krispy Kreme's Newest Doughnuts Are Covered in an Oreo Cookie Glaze
It's the brand's first new glaze in their 84-year history.
Krispy Kreme's garnered its share of headlines recently. That'll happen when you promise free doughnuts for nine months for anyone who gets vaccinated against Covid-19, plus free doughnuts every Monday for nearly two months for those who haven't been vaccinated yet.
With so many free glazed doughnuts flying off the shelves, you might be wondering how Krispy Kreme plans to make any money between now and the end of 2021. Well, it might have something to do with something of an unprecedented partnership between the doughnut maker and Oreo. The dynamic treat-making duo has dreamed up two new Oreo-inspired doughnuts, marking the first time that Krispy Kreme has collaborated on a doughnut glaze with another food brand.
That chocolatey glaze (which will take over Krispy Kreme's glaze waterfall) comes correct with real Oreo pieces — but that's really just the start. True to its name, the Oreo Cookie Glazed Doughnut starts with the OG Krispy Kreme version and layers on that Oreo glaze plus an icing drizzle and Oreo cookie pieces before revealing a cookie and Kreme™-filled interior.
The Oreo Cookie Over-the-Top-Doughnut also lives up to its billing. It takes that Oreo Cookie Glazed Doughnut, putting more cookies and Kreme™ filling on top of the doughnut before adding an extra drizzle of chocolate icing and an Oreo Cookie wafer to really make sure it's really doing the absolute most. The end result is a doughnut that looks like an Oreo with a doughnut inside of it. Try wrapping your head around that one.
While there are few things in life better than free doughnuts, one could wager that eating an Oreo doughnut (or is it a doughnut Oreo? Who's to say) is a pretty close second. Something like this will surely only be around for a limited time, so step to it. Just be warned that drinking directly from the Oreo glaze waterfall is probably against company policy even if you're vaccinated.
