You may have noticed what seems like an explosion of coffee creamer flavors in recent years. At this point, it almost feels like coffee creamer is the new breakfast cereal, functioning as a vehicle for sweetened versions of pretty much any taste or flavor you could imagine.
It's perhaps fitting, then, that this week brings news of two new coffee creamers that draw direct inspiration from two of the best sugary breakfast cereals around. In partnership with Post, International Delight will soon start offering both Fruity and Cocoa Pebble-flavored coffee creamers, just in time for the 50th anniversary of the cereals. The tastes that define a Saturday morning favorite can soon help you power through your weekdays.
Much like the cereals themselves, what exactly makes these creamers taste the way they do is shrouded in a bit of mystery. But you'd have to think the taste is probably somewhat akin to the sugary (and colorful) milk that's left behind after those Pebbles get chomped up. Why Fred and Wilma Flintstone get to be on the Fruity Pebbles bottle while Barney and Betty Rubble are on the Cocoa Pebbles bottle is anyone's guess.
This isn't the first time that a cereal has served as the inspiration for a coffee creamer. International Delight rival Coffee mate sells a Cinnamon Toast Crunch-themed coffee creamer, and let's not forget to mention CinnaMilk, which dispenses with the notion that you even need to pour your cereal milk into coffee.
If you're excited to pour some Pebbles into your morning cup, you'll have to wait a little bit longer. It sounds like these International Delight flavors won't hit store shelves at nationwide retailers like Walmart until about January 9, so stick to whatever holiday-themed coffee creamers that have caught your eye until then. The good news, though, is that the eventual release of these should prevent you from even considering a Peeps-flavored creamer in 2021.
