Guacamole Base Formula

Two tablespoons of any of these tasty guacamole versions has only about 50 calories.

Ready in 15 minutes. Makes 1½ cups

Ingredients

  • 2 medium avocados, halved, seeded, and peeled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • ¼ cup fruit or vegetables
  • ¼ cup snipped fresh herbs
  • ¼ cup crumbled cheese (optional)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons finely chopped spicy pepper or onion
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Directions

Mash together avocados and lime juice in a bowl. Stir in fruit or vegetables, herbs, cheese (if using), spicy pepper or onion, and salt. Serve with tortilla chips, plantain chips, or cut fresh vegetables.

1. Sweet Citrus Guacamole
