Healthy broccoli side dish recipes

We all know, we've gotta eat our broccoli! It's just so good for us: Low calorie and full of healthy fiber, broccoli is also packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, riboflavin, and calcium, plus cancer-fighting compounds. Cooked right, it's also delicious! And these easy, healthy broccoli side dishes are some of our favorites; they do it deliciously with healthy ingredients and easy preparations.

1. Garlic Broccoli Salad

Lightly steamed broccoli combines with toasted pine nuts, golden raisins, and a quick, tangy dressing of rice wine vinegar and minced garlic. "This broccoli salad is perfect to bring to a summer cookout or to have as a side dish with your favorite meal."

2. Broccoli Mango Salad

"This is absolutely delicious," says justlovecooking. "What a great flavor combination. I think the dressing is a great addition to any salad. The mango just adds the perfect balance that the oranges alone wouldn't do."

3. Easy Lemon and Garlic Broccoli

You'll steam broccoli florets in a skillet with a squeeze of lemon. Then combine them with sauteed garlic and give everything a quick sizzle in the pan. If you like, use olive oil instead of butter for sauteing. "This so easy to prepare and yet so good," says Jillian. "The lemon and garlic paired together really make this broccoli side dish stand out. Great recipe!"

4. Broccoli and Brussels Sprout Delight

You'll saute broccoli and Brussels sprouts with garlic in butter or olive oil, finishing with diced fresh tomato and red pepper flakes. "This recipe is definitely delightful in every way," says SHORECOOK. "It not only tastes fabulous, it is so easy to make."


5. Roasted Sage Broccoli

Broccoli florets roast with slices of red onion and torn sage leaves. "An easy and tasty veggie side dish," says Zest to Impress. "The fresh sage leaves become crispy and add texture and flavor."

6. Sesame Broccoli

You'll stir-fry chopped broccoli, sesame seeds, and slices of bell pepper in sesame oil. "A simple way to enjoy broccoli and peppers," says SunFlower. "Sesame oil gives a nice nutty taste to this dish! Sometimes, you just have to enjoy the simple taste of veggies."

7. Stir-Fried Kale and Broccoli Florets

You'll quickly stir-fry chopped broccoli with sliced garlic and chile pepper, adding fresh kale for a couple minutes, and finishing with sun-dried tomatoes and a splash of lime juice. "Fantastic," raves Atl2012. "Healthy, delicious, fast!"

8. Garlic Broccoli

"This salad is made with marinated raw broccoli in a garlicky sauce for numnums," says ESJESSI. Use a mortar and pestle to mash up salt-sprinkled garlic. You'll create a dressing with the garlicky paste plus olive oil, vinegar, and Dijon mustard.

9. Roasted Garlic Lemon Broccoli

So easy, you'll simply roast broccoli florets with garlic, adding a splash of lemon juice just before serving to brighten flavors. That's it! "Excellent," says Autumn. "I was skeptical of how little oil was used in the dish, but it turned out great. LOVED it! Healthy AND delicious." See how it's done:
