Candy corn is the worst.

Yep, I said it. Candy corn tastes like corn syrup, with subtle notes of oil, and boasts a texture eerily similar to the wax that once protected my gums from braces (which were also the worst). But even those of us who shun the stuff have to admit: Its shape and iconic trifecta of colors come with a nostalgic appeal that, well, just feels right around this time of year. Here are six treats that only look like candy corn.

1. The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Recipe creator J. Saunders recommends using a pastry brush to "paint" these sugar cookies with a thin coat of icing (just powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring).

2. Sweetheart Cupcakes

"Instead of just plain white cupcakes, I took it a step further and made them special. You can change the colors for any holiday," recipe creator Celeste says.

3. Marshmallow Treats

Take a cue from our reviewers and add food coloring with the marshmallows for a festive treat.

4. Halloween Candy Corn Jell-O® Shots

Yep, boozy, orange- and lemon-flavored Halloween Candy Corn Jell-O® Shots are much, much easier to down than even a bite of candy corn.

5. Candy Corn Cupcakes

Thanks to packaged white cake mix and prepared white frosting, these simple cupcakes taste nothing like your least-favorite Halloween candy. And yes, you can do without the topping.

6. Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Adding food coloring to this top-rated buttercream frosting transforms confections into works of art. Home cook Sanzoe created a candy-corn effect worth copying.
