Figs are so much more than the sticky stuffing in those beloved Newtons. Here are some cool ways to enjoy this fruit when it's fresh, including some tips from a seasoned produce vendor at Pike Place Market in this short video.

Quartered and blasted in a blender with milk and frozen bananas, figs turn up the sweetness volume and add a rich mouth feel to that morning eye-opener. Like you're sipping a shake instead of something that's so good for you. (Figs are high in potassium, which has been proven to lower blood pressure.)

2. Salads

Pair balsamic drizzled figs with pleasantly bitter greens like arugula and shaved Parm for a simple-to-make starter that tastes like it was whipped up in a restaurant kitchen.

3. Pizza or a Savory Tart
