Here's how to make the easiest smoothies ever.

Smoothies are pretty easy to make, but even throwing a bunch of different ingredients in a blender can seem daunting on a busy morning. Streamline the process by preparing make-ahead smoothie packs and storing them in the freezer. All you have to do is portion out the fruits and veggies for your favorite smoothie recipes and freeze. When you're ready for smoothie nirvana, simply put the pre-portioned frozen ingredients into the blender along with the liquid and you're good to go. Because the less thinking you have to do first thing in the morning, the better.

Prepping Make-Ahead Smoothie Packs

You can prep a make-ahead smoothie pack for pretty much any recipe. Here are a few tips to keep in mind so you can create the best packs:

  • To turn any smoothie recipe into a make-ahead smoothie pack, simply prep the fruits and vegetables and store them in a zip-top bag in the freezer.
  • Save the liquids -- whether it's milk, water, or orange juice -- to add just as you are making the smoothie. You can even write the amount of the liquid on the outside of the bag so whoever uses the smoothie pack knows how much to add.
  • Depending on the power of your blender and how you like your smoothie consistency, you can move the smoothie pack to the fridge the night before to defrost, or add frozen to your blender (if it's high powered) for a super-chilled beverage.
  • If your favorite smoothie calls for yogurt, go ahead and add that to the frozen smoothie pack! You can even freeze yogurt ahead of time in portioned ice cube trays to use as desired (the texture of defrosted yogurt isn't ideal for eating by the spoonful but is great for smoothies).

Make-Ahead Smoothie Pack Recipes

The recipe calls for a touch of sugar, but most reviewers found it sweet enough without that addition. "I thought this was a delicious, healthy treat. I used skim milk, and really liked the way the frozen fruit chilled the drink. It is a pretty color, too!" raves squawk93.

For the Pack:

  • 1 cup mixed berries
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup strawberry yogurt

Blend with 1 cup milk

This seven-ingredient smoothie is rich in vitamin C and other nutrients. Spinach gives it a beautiful green color yet it tastes tropically sweet. What's Hala kahiki? "Hawaiian for pineapple," explains Linda, the recipe submitter.

For the Pack:

  • 2 peeled oranges in segments
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes

Blend with 1 cup water

If you prefer, substitute the OJ with any mix of juices or even soy milk. "Soy milk adds more of a milk shake quality than juice," says Michelle.

For the Pack:

  • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup blueberries

Blend with 1 cup orange juice

You won't need added sweeteners with this smoothie. "The mango and the banana are so sweet you'd think there were added sugars," says Buckwheat Queen. "Wonderful flavor."

For the Pack:

  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced
  • 1 mango, peeled and chopped
  • 3/4 cup spinach

Blend with 1 cup coconut milk

If you don't have fresh pineapple, do what more than a few reviewers have done: swap in pineapple chunks from a can -- and save the juice to blend into the mix. "I loved this recipe," raves Jenny K. "And I REALLY loved how quick it was!"

For the Pack:

  • 1/4 fresh pineapple - peeled, cored and cubed
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced

Blend with 1 cup pineapple or apple juice
